God is calling us back to the fire of revival. Not as a one-time event, but as a lifestyle of burning for Him. Revival isn't something we wait for—it's something we become when we allow God's fire to consume us from within.
What Does It Mean to Be Willing to Burn for God?
Revival requires a willingness to burn for God. This means being set ablaze with His glory and allowing His fire to consume every area of our lives. The disciples in Acts 2 demonstrated this willingness when they waited in the upper room with expectation. They didn't leave when it got uncomfortable or when they grew impatient. They stayed, expecting to receive the Holy Spirit as Jesus had promised.
Great revivalists throughout history—Kathryn Kuhlman, Amy McPherson, John G. Lake, Kenneth Hagin, William Seymour—saw extraordinary moves of God because they were willing to burn for the gospel. They didn't focus on circumstances around them but remained focused on what God wanted to do.
Why Does God Test Our Faith?
Hebrews 11:6 tells us, "Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
God tests our faith not to trip us up, but to see if we'll trust Him and step out according to His Word. Throughout Scripture, we see this pattern: God waits for His children to take action in faith, and then He responds.
He doesn't reward us for our own actions but for trusting Him, walking in faith, and believing His Word. When we diligently seek Him in everything we do, He rewards us—sometimes with tangible blessings, but often with that internal affirmation: "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
How Do We Become a Living Sacrifice?
Romans 12:1-3 instructs us to "present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship." This means:
When we renew our minds, we begin to "prove" or approve what God's will is—that which is good, acceptable, and perfect. This word "prove" also means "approve," which changes everything. We must approve God's will for our lives. Because of free will, we get to choose whether we'll walk in God's ways or the world's ways.
What's the Difference Between God's Ways and the World's Ways?
The world's ways are:
God's ways are:
When we choose to approve God's lifestyle and calling for us, people will see a change. They'll want what we have. We can declare: "I approve that I am a child of light, not darkness. When I walk into my home, the grocery store, or my workplace, I'm taking the Kingdom with me."
Why Does Jesus Call Us the Light of the World?
In Matthew 5:14-15, Jesus says, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house."
Notice Jesus doesn't say we might be or could be the light—He declares that we ARE the light. We're not called to hide our lives or live in valleys where no one can see us. We're called to be on a hill, visible to all.
Like houses on a hillside that can't be missed, our lives should stand out. When there's depression around us, we bring joy. When there's hopelessness, we bring hope. Our light should be so bright that people in trouble know exactly who to come to.
How Does Partnership with God Work?
God is ready to move, but He's waiting for us to join Him in partnership. He didn't create us to force or push us around—He created us to partner with Him willingly.
The return in a partnership is much greater than if God were to force His way. He can do much more when we willingly join forces with Him than when there's resistance.
Life Application
This week, I challenge you to become willing to burn for God. Here's how to start:
Tell God today, "I am willing to burn for you. Consume me in your glory. Let revival consume the inner parts of my life."
Choose to partner with the Holy Spirit. Say, "I approve your Word and your message. When you say go, I'll go."
Ask God to set you ablaze for His kingdom. Pray, "Let my house be put upon the hill for everybody to see. I don't want to be hidden anymore."
Remember that as a child of light, your presence changes atmospheres. When you walk into any room, darkness must flee because you carry God's light.
Ask yourself these questions:
One person can spread the fire of revival and cause a major move of God. Don't wait for the fire to begin—let it burn within you today.
