We are living in a time that God is calling us to come closer, and He is calling us to trust Him and all His ways.  While pondering about the days and times we are living in, God brought me to a scripture that really spoke to me.

Proverbs 16:3 KJV says Commit thy ways unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

The Hebrew word for commit means to roll, remove, run down, trust, and commit.

God is calling us to commit our ways, to trust Him, to seek Him, and to remove anything in our lives that is causing or preventing us from entering into the fullness of His presence.  Sometimes this can be family or friends that seem to keep dragging you down, what your watching on T.V. or social media, or even our lack of trust in God.

I like how this passage of scripture ends by saying and thy thoughts shall be established.  If we commit to the Lord and chase after Him then our thoughts will be about Him and our walk will be established with the Lord.

We need to ask ourselves, where are my thoughts? What are the things that I'm thinking about and giving the most attention? Am I thinking positively or negatively? Am I then speaking life or death over my life, and situations.

If we commit our lives to God, then our thoughts will become established in Him. If we commit ourselves to the world then our thoughts will be established just like the world's thoughts.  We know the world's thoughts are about self (pride), drunkeness, addiction, anger, frustration, fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, just to name a few.  The thoughts of the world's ways usually do not coincide with the gifts of the Spirit (love, joy, peace...). We can be a christian but yet allow the world to dictate what we see, speak, and do.  This is what Paul calls being a carnal christian.

When we truly commit our lives to God then we want to think like Him, act like Him, and speak like Him.  Our lives become an example of the kingdom of heaven rather than just getting by.  We begin to see people with compassion.  We begin to walk in strength (greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4).

Commitment means you are all in.  There is no 50/50, 70/30, or 90/10, it is 100% for God and His ways.  God is calling us back to a place where we are commited to Him and we begin to trust Him, and give Him our everything not just what we have left.

It is time to come back, and trust God once again, and when we do then we will see increase in our lives and everything that surrounds us.

Pray with me:

Father, I come before You now in Jesus name.  I repent for not fully committing my life to You, and Your ways.  I ask for Your forgiveness, and help me to walk in commitment towards You and Your ways.  I want to do what is right by You, and I thank You for picking me back up whenever I fall.  I make a choice today to be committed whole heartedly to You and only You.  I ask You Holy Spirit, to convict me if I allow my commitment to wander in other directions.  I thank You father, for leading me in all my ways, for strengthening me, and helping me.

In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
